How to use Hexey VPN

Step by step

Install the app
Get Hexey VPN from Google Play on an Android 7.0 or later phone.

Accept the privacy policy
The first time you open the app, read the policy and tap continue.

Pick a server
Tap the server card, check how many people are online, and choose a server.

Pick your network
Tap the profile card and choose the profile for the SIM or Wi-Fi you are on.

Connect
Tap the button in the middle. The first time, Android asks whether the app may set up a VPN connection; tap OK.

Add time when you need it
Tap “Add time” at the top right and watch the ad to the end to get more time.
Tips for a stable connection
Background settings
Some phone brands close background apps to save battery, which drops the VPN. The app’s background-settings and autostart menu items take you to those settings. Optional.
Match the profile to your network
If you switch from SIM to Wi-Fi, or change SIM, pick the profile for the network you are now on.
Try another server
If a server is full or slow, pick one with fewer people online.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The app costs nothing; time comes from watching short ads in the app.
“Add time” says the ad is not ready. What now?
Sometimes Google’s ad network has no ad to show at that moment. Check that your internet works and try again shortly.
It will not connect
Check that you still have time left, pick the profile that matches your network, and try another server.
Why does the app ask for VPN permission?
Android requires you to allow any app before it can set up a VPN connection. You are normally asked on the first connection, and again if another VPN app was used in between.
Why does the app suggest turning off battery optimisation?
So the system does not close the connection while it runs in the background. It is optional; the app works without it.
What data does the app collect?
It does not collect your name, email, phone number or browsing history. The full list is in the privacy policy.
